About the Cherokees
The Cherokee Indians were one of the largest Native American tribes. They settled in the American south east portion of the country. "The tribe came from the Iroqoian Descent." They lived in cabins instead of tee pees. They were a strong tribe. The tribe had several smaller sections; all of these sections had and was lead by their own chiefs. They were very religious and spiritual. The Cherokees supported the british in the American Revolution. They learned to adopt the culture that the white men brought to them. They adopted many of their farming and building methods from the white men. They had to find new homes because gold was discovered on the cherokees land. They were forced to move and had no chance to stay. Today the cherokees have strong sense of pride. Georgia's state flower is the Cherokee Rose.
